Purpose of the Site

This website is part of university coursework at Kwantlen Polytechnic University (ENTR 3110) to address the Zero Hunger goal by 2030 set by the United Nations.

On this site, you will find statistics about current worldwide hunger problems, information about policies that universities can implement, and links to what you as an individual can do to combat the global hunger crisis.

Furthermore, we want to encourage both the students and faculty of our university, Kwantlen Polytechnic University, to become involved with the Universities Fighting World Hunger (UFWH) by signing the Presidents United to Solve Hunger (PUSH) charter.

Zero Hunger Goal

At some point in your life, you have experienced hunger; after all, it is one of the basic human needs. Millions go without food on a daily basis. It is defined as a “short-term physical discomfort as a result of chronic food shortage, or, in severe cases, a life-threatening lack of food. (World Hunger.org)

World hunger refers to an aggregate at the global level. One of the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals for 2030 is to completely eradicate world hunger.

We believe that universities, and university students, can play a big role in making this goal a reality.
