What is the garment or items purpose? Fabric choice can either help or hinder this. Consider how the garment will be worn, what someone will be doing in the garment, what type of wear will the garment be getting? A garment that is worn while landscaping will generally be made out of very different fabric then a garment that might be worn to a fancy dinner or evening out.
If you find you are unsure of what fabric to choose, reference garments that serve a similar purpose or function. If you can touch, feel, or even try on these garments. If you can’t access the garments in person, have a look at images online. How does the garment look? How is the person moving in the garment, and what type of description is provided about the fabric that the garment is made out of?
