Parveez discusses her early life in Kampala Uganda, her experience working as a legal assistant and also her passion for learning French. She shares her exciting life of getting married in her early twenties and living a very comfortable life before the expulsion of the Asians from Uganda. Lucky for her, some of her in-laws resided in Switzerland. At this time, Switzerland had opened up to accepting some Uganda refugees. She together, with the other ‘female’ members of her family as well as young children migrated to Geneva to keep safe. It was hard for her, as she was expecting her first child and to leave her husband behind was taxing on her. When her husband decided to leave Uganda, Switzerland, unfortunately had met the refugees quota & closed its doors to refugees. He ended up in France, this meant romantic one hour boat rides every Sunday across Lake Geneva to see his beautiful wife in Geneva. What an exciting time!
