With a newborn baby and a toddler, Farida & Anwar had to make a quick decision to leave Uganda in a flurry as they were very disturbed when the military took Anwar for a couple of hours demanding a ransom for having parked in a spot that he was not supposed to! Though Canada offered them a number of comforts when they landed in Montreal, Farida’s health was not cooperating. With support from ‘new friends’, they managed to rise above their early challenges, found a job and survived a couple of years in Montreal before making a move across to Canada to beautiful Vancouver, where family support was a lot stronger.
