The KPU Farm next to KPU Richmond

Introduction

The KPU Farm teaches hands-on, sustainable farming practices. Located almost adjacent to the KPU Richmond Campus, this plot of land neighbours a peat bog and Richmond Nature Park. KPU Farm is part of the Garden City Lands which consists of 55 hectares of government land; KPU leases eight hectares for community-based teaching and research purposes. The farm consists of usable farmland, a greenhouse, three moveable high tunnels (which allow for better crop rotations), and resources to promote and support local biodiversity.

The KPU Farm offers a BASc in sustainable agriculture.

Through various initiatives, KPU Farm supports the community and the natural ecosystem found within, and surrounding, the farm.

Kwantlen St. Farmers’ Market

Every Tuesday you can find folks from the KPU Farm at the Kwantlen St. Farmers’ Market. Here you will find live entertainment, workshops, and of course lovely fresh produce! The KPU Farm also have different wholesale relationships as well as donate a lot of produce to the Richmond Food Bank. Additionally, some of their produce goes to the SASA community fridge program. The community fridge is filled up with produce from the farm to provide free food to KPU students, which is an initiative put on by KPU students and the KSA.
