In 2020, due to Covid-19, we quickly substituted our in-person graduate celebrations with a dynamic Online Graduate Showcase, thisiswilson.design. The website originally began as a pivot during what has been referred to countless times since, as unprecedented times. This, amongst so many other challenges, was a massive undertaking, led by one of our dedicated faculty, Mike Cober, and a team of student volunteers.
After the incredible feedback and success of this inaugural edition, we agreed that we must continue to showcase our graduates in this digital format, regardless of the current circumstances. The Graduate Showcase website has proven to be many things to many people; industry looking to hire, students and their families looking to celebrate and future students looking for inspiration. This year’s edition of our Graduate Showcase has now evolved into a celebration of innovation and resilience.
A Message to Our 2021 Grads
Furthermore, we are thrilled to share today’s blog post on the day of our 2021 convocation! Today is a day that all of us look forward to each year; it is a day to celebrate our graduating students who never fail to showcase determination and perseverance. This year, even more than others past, those attributes could not be more recognized and respected. Huge congratulations to all our graduates on reaching this momentous milestone. The future is brighter with this promising group of design leaders, and we celebrate their work at thisiswilson.design.
What is Wilson?
As our brand identity conveys, we embrace iteration and provoke progress. Our students are gutsy, empowered, innovative thinkers and our grads are ready to create a positive impact in the world. New thinking and real solutions are what the Wilson School of Design does best, and our year-end grad showcase is a true testament to that statement. Thisiswilson.design is a showcase and celebration of the range of grads from all of our programs.
Industry Recognition
Our website is not only pretty on the outside, we have proof that it works too. Our Interior Design instructor, Paola Gavilanez, recently shared a post celebrating the work of the Interior Design Grad Class of 2021 showcased on thisiswilson.design and it received incredible feedback on her LinkedIn page. Several recent graduates were able to connect with interested employers and were hired for virtual internships and permanent positions, all due to the connections they made on our grad showcase website.

A New Tradition
Every year, we are made proud by our students and the work they do to reach that special moment of graduation. As our graduates continue to be gutsy and progressive, we continue to celebrate them at thisiswilson.design.
