Today was a free day, where we got to have some fun exploring and enjoying the beauty of Belize. Valerie Jenkinson, from Operators Without Borders, took us to Caye Caulker, a small Caribbean island off the coast of Belize. It is a truly beautiful place and a day I will never forget!
Back home now and doing final preparations for tomorrow. It will be the beginning of 6 days of training with the Belize Water Services Group. I am really looking forward to this teaching experience. Being able to share my knowledge and experience regarding water management, safety and best practices will be a real privilege!
From Wikipedia: ‘Caye Caulker is divided by a narrow channel called the Split, where there’s a bar and a sandy beach. To the south is the island’s only settlement, known as Caye Caulker Village. The north of the island is home to dense mangrove forest and diverse birdlife, protected by a forest reserve. The Caye Caulker Marine Reserve has dive sites on the Belize Barrier Reef.’
