Chai(tea) origin?

Chai has been around for more than 5,000 years. Chai is the Indian name of tea. Depending on the area of the continent or even the neighborhood where the beverage was being made, a wide variety of spices were used to prepare the drink as it spread throughout India. Tea is a traditional medicinal brew made with herbs and spices that was developed for use in Ayurveda. The chai that was, is traditionally brewed using spices like cinnamon, ginger, star anise, cardamom, cloves, black pepper, and nutmeg. I’m not referring to any of today’s chai latte and such.

Why it is important to me?

Every headache, every stressful circumstance, and every boring hour of the day have their corresponding cures in this cup of chai that I now gaze upon. It is my companion when I am by myself, and it is my friend in times of greatest need. When I wake up in the morning, chai is the first thing that comes to mind, and it is chai that motivates me to get out of bed. It’s similar to how being with someone you love makes you feel comfortable and all your worries disappear. That’s what my love of tea makes me do. When i was in my homecountry, I used to drink chai only 1 time in a day but here in country I start drinking 2-3 times and the reasons behind this is homesickness felling alone, having no body like family here. When I was in India, Without a doubt, my mornings don’t begin until I get my favorite mug of warm chai. My mum sometimes makes masala tea, the entire house fills with the aroma of spices and it fells so comforting especially in winters.

Chai is just not a drink, it is a emotion and medicine of all the stress we say in Punjabi – “har dard ki dwa”. It is a response that perfectly captures the significance of this beverage in the lives of all chai lovers.
