Standards and Regulations

There are not many standards in place as 3D printing is in its infant stages, and even more so recycling for 3D printing. Below are some potential standards and regulations that may be relevant to this project as it progresses.

STANDARDS BY ISO/TC 261 – Additive manufacturing

ISO 14021:2016(en) – Environmental labels and declarations — Self-declared environmental claims (Type II environmental labelling)

13.020 ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION

Filamentive Declare Recycled Content Certification – ISO 14021

ISO 14855-2:2018 – Determination of the ultimate aerobic biodegradability of plastic materials under controlled composting conditions — Method by analysis of evolved carbon dioxide — Part 2: Gravimetric measurement of carbon dioxide evolved in a laboratory-scale test

My Two Sent.’s: As the project progress and I have a more solid grounding in what direction the project will head, regulations and standards will be easier to classify and determine relevance. I believe as time goes on and recycling for 3D printing becomes more popular, more standards and regulations will be established.
