Chemistry 1105

General Course Information
The course presentation This is your course presentation. In it, you’ll find my contact information, a list of the required materials, grading information, a tentative schedule for topics to be covered, and the cheating and plagiarism policy.

Your textbook The chapter references in the course presentation are for the textbook linked to here. That said, you may use any other textbook you like as a reference for the course.
The Lab Schedule When you’ll be doing what in the lab, how to find it in the lab manual, whether or not a handout is required, and whether or not there’s an unknown for analysis.
The Moodle Site This is the (link to the) Moodle site for the course. I’ll be posting various resources for the course there throughout the semester.

Example First Midterms
Fall 2023 test 1 and solutions Fall 2023 test 1. This test covers unit conversions, classification of matter, Dalton’s laws, structure of the atom, periodic table trivia, compound naming and formulae, and completing and balancing everything except redox reactions.
Spring 2024 test 1 and solutions Spring 2024 test 1. This test covers unit conversions, classification of matter, Dalton’s laws, structure of the atom, periodic table trivia, and (most of) compound naming.
Example Second Midterms
Fall 2023 test 2 and solutions Fall 2023 test 2. This test covers redox reactions, stoichiometry, and the first maybe third of gases.
Spring 2024 test 2 and solutions Spring 2024 test 2. This test covers the rest of naming, reactions (excluding redox) and about the first half of moles and stoichiometry.
Example Third Midterms
Fall 2023 test 3 and solutions Fall 2023 test 3. This test covers the rest of gases, thermochemistry, equilibrium, and a the very beginning of acids and bases.
Spring 2024 test 3 and solutions Spring 2024 test 3. This test covers gases, thermochemistry, and (the very beginning of) equilibrium.
